Two Circumstellar Nebulae Discovered with the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explore and Their Massive Central Stars
We report the discovery of two mid-infrared nebulae in the northern hemisphere with the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer and the results of optical spectroscopy of their central stars, BD+60 2668Expand
A Trigonometric Parallax of Sgr B2
We have measured the positions of H(2)O masers in Sgr B2, a massive star-forming region in the Galactic center, relative to an extragalactic radio source with the Very Long Baseline Array. TheExpand
Presupernova Evolution of Massive Single and Binary Stars
Understanding massive stars is essential for a variety of branches of astronomy including galaxy and star cluster evolution, nucleosynthesis and supernovae, pulsars, and black holes. It has becomeExpand
A remarkable change of the spectrum of the magnetic Of?p star HD 148937 reveals evidence of an eccentric, high-mass binary
We report new spectroscopic observations of the magnetic Of?p star HD 148937 obtained since 2015 that differ qualitatively from its extensive historical record of weak, periodic spectral variations.Expand
The INT photometric H-alpha survey of the northern galactic plane
The Isaac Newton Telescope (INT) Photometric Halpha Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS) is a 1800-deg 2 CCD survey of the northern Milky Way spanning the latitude range -5° < b < + 5° andExpand
Local kinematics and the local standard of rest
We re-examine the stellar kinematics of the solar neighbourhood in terms of the velocity υ of the Sun with respect to the local standard of rest. We show that the classical determination of itsExpand
