We study type IIB supergravity backgrounds which are dual to marginal deformations of N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory. We re-examine two circular Wilson loops and describe how the phase transition occurs in the presence of deformation parameter.

Correlator of fundamental and anti-symmetric Wilson loops in AdS/CFT correspondence

We study the two circular Wilson loop correlator in which one is of anti-symmetric representation, while the other is of fundamental representation in 4-dimensional = 4 super Yang-Mills theory. This

Ladder limit for correlators of Wilson loops

We study the correlator of concentric circular Wilson loops for arbitrary radii, spatial and internal space separations. For real values of the parameters specifying the dual string configuration, a

AdS/CFT Approach to Melvin Field Deformed Wilson Loop

We first apply the transformation of mixing azimuthal and internal coordinate to the 11D M-theory with a stack N M2-branes to find the spacetime of a stack of N D2-branes with Melvin one-form in 10D

Aspects of holographic Wilson loops

In this thesis we study some aspects of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In particular those involving observables that can be computed exactly, as Wilson loops. The gauge/gravity correspondence or

Two Polyakov Loop Correlators from D5-Branes at Finite Temperature

We study two Polyakov loop correlators in large N limit of N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory at finite temperature using the AdS-Schwarzschild black hole. In the case that one of the two loops is of the

Wilson Loops of Anti-symmetric Representation and D5-branes

We use a D5-brane with electric flux in AdS_5 x S^5 background to calculate the circular Wilson loop of anti-symmetric representation in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory in 4 dimensions. The result agrees

Aspects of large N gauge theory dynamics as seen by string theory

In this paper we explore some of the features of large N supersymmetric and nonsupersymmetric gauge theories using Maldacena’s duality conjectures. We show that the resulting strong coupling behavior

Deformations of flows from type IIB supergravity

We consider supersymmetric SL(3, R)-deformations of various type IIB supergravity backgrounds which exhibit flows away from an asymptotically locally AdS5 × S5 fixed point. This includes the gravity

Two loops to two loops in N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory

We present a full two-loop O(g 6 ) perturbative field theoretic calculation of the expectation value of two circular Maldacena-Wilson loops in D = 4 N = 4 su- persymmetric U(N) gauge theory. It is

Phase transition in Wilson loop correlator from AdS / CFT correspondence

A previous calculation of the phase transition in the Wilson loop correlator in the zero temperature AdS/CFT correspondence is extended to the case where the loops are concentric circles of unequal

Deforming field theories with U(1) × U(1) global symmetry and their gravity duals

We find the gravity dual of a marginal deformation of = 4 super Yang Mills, and discuss some of its properties. This deformation is intimately connected with an SL(2,) symmetry of the gravity theory.
