MicroRNAs (miRNAs) regulate cell proliferation and differentiation by silencing gene expression at the post-transcriptional level; moreover, by binding to the complementary sequences within mRNAs in cancer cells, these small non-coding RNA molecules can function as tumor suppressors or oncogenes.
