Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) produces nitric oxide, which has growth promoting activity in melanoma. A preliminary study of tumors from patients with Stage III melanoma who had received neo-adjuvant therapy revealed an association of tumor iNOS expression with shortened survival.
