DO-178b/c and DO-254 each contain a set of objectives that must be met. These objectives define the level of verification and validation required at each Design Assurance Level. Figure 2 shows the number of objectives for each certification. In addition to these objectives, DO-254 section 2.3.4 and Appendix B also have additional considerations for Levels A/B electronics [2]. This information should give a sense of the relative scope for each of the 5 levels of certification.
