We propose a new possibility to reconcile the coupling unification scenario with the triplet-doublet mass splitting based on a 5-dimensional supersymmetric model with SU(5) gauge symmetry. It is shown that the minimal supersymmetric standard model is derived on a 4-dimensional wall through compactification on S 1 /(Z2 × Z 2). In this paper, we propose a new possibility to reconcile the coupling unification scenario with the triplet-doublet mass splitting. The coupling unification originates… Expand

Doublet-Triplet Splitting in an SU(5) Grand Unification

- Physics
- 2011

We present a new solution to the doublet-triplet splitting problem which also works in a supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified theory and is testable at TeV-scale collider experiments. In our model, the… Expand

Grand Unification in Higher Dimensions

- Physics

We have recently proposed an alternative picture for the physics at the scale of gauge coupling unification, where the unified symmetry is realized in higher dimensions but is broken locally by a… Expand

Supersymmetric Grand Unification Model with the Orbifold Symmetry Breaking in the Six Dimensional Supergravity

- Physics
- 2001

Abstract We construct supersymmetric (SUSY) grand unification (GUT) models in the six-dimensional space–time where the GUT symmetry is broken down to the standard-model gauge group by a simple… Expand

Holographic Grand Unification

We present a framework for grand unification in which the grand unified symmetry is broken spontaneously by strong gauge dynamics, and yet the physics at the unification scale is described by (weakly… Expand

A realistic pattern of fermion masses from a five-dimensional SO(10) model

- Physics
- 2015

A bstractWe provide a unified description of fermion masses and mixing angles in the framework of a supersymmetric grand unified SO(10) model with anarchic Yukawa couplings of order unity. The… Expand

Mass-splitting between haves and have-nots — symmetry vs. Grand Unified Theory

- Physics
- 2015

A bstractWe revisit the long-standing problem of supersymmetric grand unified theory (GUT), the doublet-triplet splitting problem. We discuss whether symmetry which controls the μ term in the minimal… Expand

Fermion masses and proton decay in a minimal five-dimensional SO(10) model

- Physics
- 2006

We propose a minimal SO(10) model in 5 space-time dimensions. The single extra spatial dimension is compactified on the orbifold S^1/(Z_2 x Z_2') reducing the gauge group to that of Pati-Salam. The… Expand

A supersymmetric grand unified model with noncompact horizontal symmetry

- Physics
- 2013

In a supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified model with a horizontal symmetry SU(1,1), we discuss spontaneous generation of generations to produce three chiral generations of quarks and leptons and one… Expand

A complete theory of grand unification in five dimensions

- Physics
- 2002

A fully realistic unified theory is constructed, with SU(5) gauge symmetry and supersymmetry both broken by boundary conditions in a fifth dimension. Despite the local explicit breaking of SU(5) at a… Expand

Unified model of fermion masses with Wilson line flavor symmetry breaking

- Physics
- 2010

We present a supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified theory model with a discrete non-Abelian flavor symmetry that is broken by Wilson lines. The model is formulated in 4+3 dimensions compactified on a… Expand
