Over a period of five years parasitological surveys were carried out on the freshwater fish fauna in the eastern Caprivi which included the upper Zambesi River, a section of the Chobe and Kwando Rivers, and vast swampy areas. This area is well known for its wide variety of indigenous fish and has so far not been influenced in any way by introduced alien fish species. In these surveys 45 different fish species of 12 families were examined. This paper reports on the parasites of the… Expand

TLDR
During 1988 parasitological surveys were carried out on the freshwater fish fauna on the island of Taiwan in 12 localities that included fishery stations, reservoirs, fish markets as well as natural rivers and swamps, recording 14 trichodinid species, of which five are new. Expand
Dipartiella kazubski sp. nov. (Ciliophora: Peritrichida), a new ectoparasitic trichodinid species from the gills of freshwater fishes in India
TLDR
The present study confirms the occurrence of a freshwater species under the genus Dipartiella Stein, 1961 with extreme morphological variability and deals with taxonomy, systematic, prevalence and host preferences of the species. Expand
Trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Peritrichia) of freshwater fishes of the family Anabantidae from the Okavango River and Delta (Botswana).
During parasitological surveys in the Okavango Delta and Panhandle in Botswana, two species of climbing perches belonging to the family Anabantidae were investigated for ectoparasites. The fishesExpand
Trichodinids [Ciliophora: Trichodinidae] from native and exotic Australian freshwater fishes
TLDR
It is estimated that the Australian trichodinid fauna may include up to 150 as yet undescribed species and represents a major source of unexplored biodiversity. Expand

During surveys of the trichodinid parasites in mariculture beds off the coast of Shandong Province, China, four species of the genus Trichodina from the gills of marine molluscs were investigated andExpand

TLDR
This research morphologically characterizes Trichodina colisae and reports not only the second occurrence of T.colisae in the world, but also its first occurrence in South America. Expand
First Record of Trichodinella epizootica (Raabe, 1950) Šramek-Hušek, 1953, with Description of Trichodina notopteridae sp. n. (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) from Freshwater Fishes of India
TLDR
During surveys of the trichodinid parasites in the Churni River, India, one each species of the genus Trichodina and TrichODinella from the gills of freshwater fishes were investigated and morphologically studied. Expand
First record of two ectoparasitic ciliates of the genus Trichodina (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) parasitizing gills of an invasive freshwater fish, Micropercops swinhonis, in Tibet
TLDR
Results reveal that invasion of exotic fish may cause a potential threat to native fish by introducing or dispersing parasitic ciliates and phylogenetic analyses of mobilids based on the small subunit ribosomal RNA gene (SSU rDNA) sequences reveal the two ectoparasites clustered with freshwater species of the genus Trichodina within the order Mobilida. Trichodinid ectoparasites of cichlid and cyprinid fishes in South Africa and Israel
SummaryThree new and seven known species of trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Peritricha) were identified from cichlid and cyprinid fishes collected from fish ponds, natural and man-made lakes,Expand
Host specificity of trichodinid ectoparasites of freshwater fish.
TLDR
The more opportunistic species, with a broad host range, tend to be larger skin parasites, while the more specialized are smaller and usually only parasitize the gills o f their specific host. Expand
