We introduce a novel class of quantum circuits that are unitary along three distinct “arrows of time”. These dynamics share some of the analytical tractability of “dual-unitary” circuits, while exhibiting distinctive and richer phenomenology. We find that two-point correlations in these dynamics are strictly confined to three directions in (1+1)-dimensional spacetime – the two light cone edges, δx = ±vδt, and the static worldline δx = 0. Along these directions, correlation functions are… Expand

Exact dynamics in dual-unitary quantum circuits
We consider the class of dual-unitary quantum circuits in 1 + 1 dimensions and introduce a notion of “solvable” matrix product states (MPSs), defined by a specific condition which allows us to tackleExpand
Entanglement transitions via space-time rotation of quantum circuits
Time evolution of quantum many-body systems typically leads to a state with maximal entanglement allowed by symmetries. Two distinct routes to impede entanglement growth are inducing localization viaExpand
Fractal, logarithmic and volume-law entangled non-thermal steady states via spacetime duality
The extension of many-body quantum dynamics to the non-unitary domain has led to a series of exciting developments, including new out-of-equilibrium entanglement phases and phase transitions. We showExpand
Exact Correlation Functions for Dual-Unitary Lattice Models in 1+1 Dimensions.
TLDR
It is shown that for this class of circuits, generically nonintegrable, one can compute explicitly all dynamical correlations of local observables and this result is exact, nonpertubative, and holds for any dimension d of the local Hilbert space. Expand
Entanglement Spreading in a Minimal Model of Maximal Many-Body Quantum Chaos
The spreading of entanglement in out-of-equilibrium quantum systems is currently at the center of intense interdisciplinary research efforts involving communities with interests ranging fromExpand
Unitary circuits of finite depth and infinite width from quantum channels
We introduce an approach to compute reduced density matrices for local quantum unitary circuits of finite depth and infinite width. Suppose the time-evolved state under the circuit is aExpand
Operator Entanglement in Local Quantum Circuits II: Solitons in Chains of Qubits
We provide exact results for the dynamics of local-operator entanglement in quantum circuits with two-dimensional wires featuring ultralocal solitons, i.e. single-site operators which, up to a phase,Expand
Operator Spreading in Random Unitary Circuits
Random quantum circuits yield minimally structured models for chaotic quantum dynamics, which are able to capture, for example, universal properties of entanglement growth. We provide exact resultsExpand
Quantum Entanglement Growth Under Random Unitary Dynamics
Characterizing how entanglement grows with time in a many-body system, for example after a quantum quench, is a key problem in non-equilibrium quantum physics. We study this problem for the case ofExpand
Quantum Zeno effect and the many-body entanglement transition
We introduce and explore a one-dimensional ``hybrid'' quantum circuit model consisting of both unitary gates and projective measurements. While the unitary gates are drawn from a random distributionExpand
