Two strains of Streptomyces sp. (isolates 275 and 124) were isolated from soil samples collected from the fields around Lewiston, Idaho. Based on their cellular morphology and physiology, the two isolates were identified as Streptomyces albovinaceous. Both isolates produced an antibiotic when grown in liquid culture medium containing homogenized oats. The antibiotic (treponemycin) was isolated from the culture broth by solvent extraction and purified by silica gel column and preparative thin…
Bioprocess Development for the Production of Bioactive Compounds from Actinomycetes Isolates from Al- Khurmah Governorate
TLDR
The purified antimicrobial agent was suggestive of being belonging to 18 membered polyketide macrolide antibiotic group (Borrelidin or Treponemycin antibiotic) produced by Streptomyces rimosus, KH-1223-55.
Antifungal activity of borrelidin produced by a Streptomyces strain isolated from soybean.
In this study, an endophytic Streptomyces sp. neau-D50 with strong antifungal activity against Phytophthora sojae was isolated from healthy soybean root, using an in vitro screening technique. A
Antimicrobial and antiviral activities of an actinomycete (Streptomyces sp.) isolated from a Brazilian tropical forest soil
TLDR
A promising producer of bioactive compounds isolated from a Brazilian tropical soil was tested for its range of antimicrobial activities and the strong cytotoxic effect suggests an antitumour action.
Biological activities of Streptomyces species SRDP-07 isolated from soil of Thirthahalli, Karnataka, India
TLDR
The results of the present study indicate that the soils of Thirthahalli are known to contain actinomycetes with potent biological activities, which can be exploited for production of novel metabolites.
Design, synthesis and antifungal evaluation of borrelidin derivatives.
Novel nitrile degrading enzymes in thermophilic bacteria
TLDR
Nitrile degrading enzyme activity was irreversibly inhibited by the aromatic nitrile, benzonitrile and mesophiles and the native enzyme was stable over a broad pH range and exhibited ≥50% activity between pH 6.2 and 8.7.
In vitro and in vivo antimalarial activities of a non-glycosidic 18-membered macrolide antibiotic, borrelidin, against drug-resistant strains of Plasmodia.
TLDR
The antimalarial profile of borrelidin is reported here, a known nonglycosidic 18-membered macrolide antibiotic with a cyclopentanecarboxylic acid side chain, in comparison with those of clinically used antimalaria drugs.
Streptomyces heilongjiangensis sp. nov., a novel actinomycete that produces borrelidin isolated from the root surface of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr].
TLDR
It is proposed that strain NEAU-W2(T) represents a novel StrePTomyces species, Streptomyces heilongjiangensis sp.
ANTIMICROBIAL AND ANTIOXIDANT EFFICACY OF STREPTOMYCES SPECIES SRDP- TK-07 ISOLATED FROM A SOIL OF TALAKAVERI, KARNATAKA, INDIA
TLDR
The extract exhibited dose dependent DPPH free radical scavenging and Ferric reducing activity and UV spectral data of ethyl acetate extract showed strong absorption maxima at 226 and 267nm, indicating that the isolate can be a potential candidate for the development of novel therapeutic agents active against pathogens and free radicals.
Antibacterial and antioxidant activities of Streptomyces species SRDP-H03 isolated from soil of Hosudi, Karnataka, India
TLDR
The ethyl acetate extract of the isolate SRDP-H03 showed marked inhibition of Gram positive bacteria than Gram negative bacteria and the extract was found to possess dose dependent DPPH free radical scavenging and Ferric reducing activity.

TLDR
Pure cultures of six pathogenic isolates of Treponema hyodysenteriae, the colonic mucosal scrapings of seven pigs with acute swine dysentery, and feces from seven unaffected pigs were diluted in phosphate-buffered saline and plated on Trypticase soy agar and TSA with various levels of spectinomycin.
The Utilization of Carbon Compounds by Some Actinomycetales as an Aid for Species Determination
TLDR
Taylor and Decker (1947) showed that various plant pathogenic actinomycetes could be separated from nonpathogenic isolates on the basis of their reactions on carbon compounds, as well as other criteria.
