In 1973, Austria, Cuba, England and Wales, Hungary, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden and the U.S. collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) to produce a report on the impact of social and biological factors on perinatal mortality. This article explores trends in perinatal mortality in each of the 8 participating countries in the years after the study was done; data were supplied by WHO for the years 1968-78.
