}BACKGROUND
Prediction of natural conception in subfertile couples can help to differentiate between couples who should have immediate treatment and couples who can aim for natural conception for some time. Natural conception rates are often estimated using standard techniques such as Kaplan-Meier or Cox proportional hazard models. These estimates can be biased by incorrect handling of data from women who start assisted reproductive technology therapy before the end of the follow-up period. This…

Can we distinguish between infertility and subfertility when predicting natural conception in couples with an unfulfilled child wish?
- PsychologyHuman reproduction
- 2013
Mixture models estimated that 47% of the couples were infertile; female age and previous pregnancy were significantly related to infertility, whereas duration of child wish was associated with a longer time to pregnancy for subfertile couples.
Correcting for the dependent competing risk of treatment using inverse probability of censoring weighting and copulas in the estimation of natural conception chances.
- MathematicsStatistics in medicine
- 2014
This work parameterize the event distributions for conception and for start of ART and use copulas to account for the dependency between both events, and obtains a plausible estimation region for the cumulative pregnancy curve and for the prognostic effect of tubal tests.
Cumulative incidence rate of medical consultation for fecundity problems--analysis of a prevalent cohort using competing risks.
- MedicineHuman reproduction
- 2013
The occurrence of a pregnancy and resumption of use of contraceptive use were considered as informative censoring events, using a competing risk model and the Kaplan-Meier method yielded substantially higher estimates.

- MedicinePloS one

Improvements in lactate concentration or coma scores over the first 24 hours of admission, were strongly prognostic for survival in all datasets and are valid surrogate endpoints for severe malaria studies on antimalarial drugs or adjuvant treatments aiming at improving the microcirculation.
