OBJECTIVE Recent experience with traumatic diaphragmatic hernias at the Massachusetts General Hospital was reviewed to identify pitfalls in the diagnosis and treatment of this injury. SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA Traumatic diaphragmatic disruption is a common injury and a marker of severe trauma.
