OBJECTIVES Many attempts have been made to develop a method for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) that is minimally invasive, efficacious, and low-cost. Transurethral needle ablation (TUNA) is a new, fast outpatient anesthesia-free procedure, using interstitial low-level radio frequency energy to produce a temperature above 100 degrees C.
