The principal aspects of the 'doubling-dose method' currently used by the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR) and the Committee on the Biological Effects of Ionizing Radiation (BEIR) of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, for the evaluation of genetic radiation hazards in man are briefly reviewed.
