The objective of the studies presented in this paper was to understand the transient response of thick circular and square bars subjected to transverse elastic point impact. It is shown that the transient response is composed of a number of resonant frequencies caused by cross‐sectional modes of vibration. The individual cross‐sectional modes and their corresponding natural frequencies were determined using plane strain and three‐dimensional finite‐element models of circular and square cross…
A NUMERICAL APPROACH TO DETERMINING THE TRANSIENT RESPONSE OF NONRECTANGULAR BARS SUBJECTED TO TRANSVERSE ELASTIC IMPACT
The objectives of the studies presented in this paper are to propose an efficient numerical approach to determining the transient response of nonrectangular bars subjected to transverse elastic
The transverse elastic impact response of thick hollow cylinders
The two objectives of the studies in this paper were to determine the transient elastic impact response of thick-walled hollow cylindrical structures and to determine how this response was affected
Frequency Spectrum Analysis of Impact-Echo Waveforms for T-Beams
Numerical and experimental studies were performed to assess the transient impact response of 11 T-beams with various dimensions and aspect ratios. Numerical modeling was performed using a three stage
DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF INTACT PILES TO IMPULSE LOADS
The objective of this work was to evaluate the theoretical capabilities of the non-destructive impact–response method in estimating the length and cross-sectional area of intact piles.
Evaluation of Resonant Frequencies of Solid Circular Rods with Impact-Echo Method
The impact-echo (IE) method was developed for concrete structures with a basic assumption of Poisson’s ratio being approximately equal to 0.2. The resulting equations to evaluate the resonant
Cross-Sectional Modes in Impact-Echo Testing of Concrete Structures
The impact-echo method is a promising technique for the detection of damage in concrete structures, particularly when applied to plate-like structures. However, when the technique is applied to
Finite element linear and nonlinear, static and dynamic analysis of structural elements: a bibliography (1992‐1995)
