The scalar-tensor theory of gravitation proposed by Mbelek and Lachi\`{e}ze-Rey have been recently shown to lead to some remarkable effects beyond those initially explored by its authors. These new effects include a possible explanation of the forces measured in asymmetric resonant microwave cavities, and the variation of the amplitude of electromagnetic waves as they propagate in static electric or magnetic fields.
