Comparative two-dimensional gel electrophoretic studies were performed on mitochondrial proteins in nontransformed mouse 3T3 cells and in SV40-transformed 3T3 cells, SV-T2. Two polypeptides, of 58 and 40 kDa, were present in increased amounts in SV40-transformed cells. These polypeptides were demonstrated to be nuclear-coded mitochondrial proteins by their absence in mitochondrial preparations, when labeling was performed in the presence of a mitochondrial-specific inhibitor, Rhodamine 6G… CONTINUE READING
