The Case for Borderline Personality Disorder as an Emotional Disorder: Implications for Treatment
The goal of this article is to advance understanding of borderline personality disorder (BPD) as an emotional disorder and to use this information as a heuristic for reconceptualizing targeted
Targeting Elevated Borderline Features in Adolescents Using the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders in Adolescents (UP-A)
ABSTRACT Youth with elevated borderline features (BF) exhibit significant emotional dysregulation and high impulsivity. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and BF have been historically difficult
Recent developments in psychosocial interventions for borderline personality disorder
TLDR
Advances in the last several years address specific treatment needs and offer cost-efficient options for this diverse patient population and new adjunctive and technology-assisted interventions have been developed.
The unified protocol for anxiety and depression with comorbid borderline personality disorder: a single case design clinical series
Abstract This study used a single case experimental design to investigate the use of the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP) among a sample of individuals with
How Transdiagnostic Factors of Personality and Psychopathology Can Inform Clinical Assessment and Intervention
TLDR
An overview of transdiagnostic factor research findings is presented and positive implications for efforts to understand, characterize, and ameliorate psychopathology—including its manifestations as personality disorder—in a valid, effective, and efficient way are applied.

Borderline personality disorder co-morbidity: relationship to the internalizing–externalizing structure of common mental disorders
TLDR
Although BPD was unidimensional in terms of its symptoms, BPD as a disorder showed associations with both the distress subfactor of the internalizing dimension and the externalizing dimension, and these liability dimensions provide a beneficial focus for understanding the co-morbidity, etiology and treatment of BPD.
The development of a psychodynamic treatment for patients with borderline personality disorder: a preliminary study of behavioral change.
TLDR
It is highly suggestive that this structured and manualized psychodynamic treatment modified for borderline patients shows promise for the ambulatory treatment of these patients and warrants further study.
The Nature, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Neuroticism
We highlight the role of neuroticism in the development and course of emotional disorders and make a case for shifting the focus of intervention to this higher-order dimension of personality. Recent
Revisiting the structure of mental disorders: borderline personality disorder and the internalizing/externalizing spectra.
TLDR
The utility of the internalizing/externalizing framework for characterizing personality disorders as well as Axis I disorders is demonstrated, demonstrating the fit to dimensional indicators of nine disorders.
The Role of Mindfulness in Borderline Personality Disorder Features
TLDR
It is suggested that mindfulness may be a unique predictor for the expression of BPD pathology and an emphasis on mindfulness may thus be crucial in enhancing the formulation and treatment of B PD.

A proposal for a dimensional classification system based on the shared features of the DSM-IV anxiety and mood disorders: implications for assessment and treatment.
TLDR
An alternative approach is considered that emphasizes empirically supported common dimensions of emotional disorders over disorder-specific criteria sets and selection and assessment of these dimensions are discussed along with how these methods could be implemented to promote more reliable and valid diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning.
