We report the analysis of 872 cDNA clones from a WSSV-infected white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei gill cDNA library. Comparison against the GenBank protein and nucleotide sequences identified 87% (E < or = 10(-2)) as previously known genes, while 13% are novel sequences. The 601 ESTs (87%) represent transcripts of 276 genes. These genes were categorized into 12 groups according to their functions. The more abundant categories were (1) ribosomal proteins (21%), (2) WSSV transcripts and sequences… Expand
Differentially expressed genes of the shrimp Marsupenaeus japonicus in response to infection by white spot syndrome virus or Vibrio alginolyticus.
TLDR
This is the first study to use a next-generation high-throughput DNA sequencing technique, the Illumina Hiseq2000 method, to analyze the transcriptome from hemocytes of Marsupenaeus japonicus, and accelerate the understanding of the innate immune mechanisms in M. japanicus and other crustaceans. Expand
Subtracted Transcriptome Profile of Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon) That Survived WSSV Challenge
TLDR
This study used next-generation sequencing (NGS) coupled with suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) to generate a transcriptome database of genes from tiger shrimp that survived White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) challenge, highlighting the advantage of the NGS platform coupled with SSH in terms of gene discovery and marker generation. iTRAQ analysis of gill proteins from the zebrafish (Danio rerio) infected with Aeromonas hydrophila.
TLDR
This is first report on proteome of fish gills against A. hydrophila infection, which contribute to understanding the defense mechanisms of the gills in fish. Expand
Gene expression profiling in gill tissues of White spot syndrome virus infected black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon by DNA microarray
TLDR
The changes in gene expression profiles observed by microarray analysis provides molecular insights and framework of genes which are up- and down-regulated at different time intervals during WSSV infection in shrimp. Expand
Cloning of profilin (FcPFN) from the shrimpFenneropenaeus chinensis, a highly expressed protein in white spot syndrome virus (WSSV)-infected shrimp
TLDR
The higher expression of FcPFN mRNA is observed in shrimp infected with the white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), which is a major concern in all shrimp-growing regions of the world, and suggest a potential role for F cPFN in viral host defense mechanisms. Expand
Expression of HSP60 and HSP70 in white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei in response to bacterial challenge.
TLDR
The results indicate that LvHHSP60 and LvHSP70 may play important roles in mediating the immune responses of L. vannamei to bacterial challenge, and that the Ca(2+) signalling transduction pathway may be involved in the initiation of the shrimp's immune responses in early stages of infection. Expand
Expression analysis of selected haemocyte transcripts from black tiger shrimp infected with yellow head virus
TLDR
The reduced level of expressed selenoprotein W transcript in YHV-infected shrimp haemocytes might be related to systemic apoptosis and death of the shrimp. Expand
Comparative microarray profile of the hepatopancreas in the response of "Huanghai No. 2" Fenneropenaeus chinensis to white spot syndrome virus.
TLDR
To better understand the mechanism of molecular responses to WSSV infection in "Huanghai No. 2" Fenneropenaeus chinensis, a microarray technique was used and differentially expressed genes were identified both in live and moribund shrimp at early, peak and late phases. Expand
Expressed sequence tags from cDNA library prepared from gills of the swimming crab, Portunus trituberculatus
TLDR
This study represents the first functional profiling of genes expressed in P. trituberculatus gill and provides so far the largest gene collection of this species, indicating salinity adaptation may be involved with a series of cellular processes. Expand
Identification of genes differentially expressed in hemocytes of Scylla paramamosain in response to lipopolysaccharide.
TLDR
The study primarily provides the data of the up-regulated genes associated with different biological processes in S. paramamosain in response to LPS, by which the interesting genes or proteins potentially involved in the innate immune defense of S.paramamosains will be investigated in future. Identification of immune-related genes in hemocytes of black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon)
TLDR
An expressed sequence tag library was constructed from hemocytes of the black tiger shrimp to identify genes associated with immunity in this economically important species and three full-length ESTs encoding antimicrobial peptides and a heat shock protein are reported. Expand
Discovery of the Genes in Response to White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) Infection in Fenneropenaeus chinensis Through cDNA Microarray
TLDR
The expression of housekeeping genes such as actin, elongation factor, and tubulin is not stable, and so these genes are not suitable as internal standards for semiquantitative RT-PCR when shrimp are challenged by WSSV, and triosephosphate isomerase was an ideal candidate of interstandards in this situation.
