Prolactin, glucocorticoids, and insulin are commonly used to induce milk protein synthesis in bovine mammary cell cultures. In addition, administration of GH increases milk yield in dairy cows, likely via the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway and IGF-I synthesis.
