The trail-following behaviour of male Lycosa rabida and L. punctulata (in response to draglines of females) was analysed by high-speed cinematography (36 to 180 frames/s). L. rabida exhibited two modes of following, while L. punctulata showed three modes. One mode, palpal-sliding, was common to both species. During all modes of trail-following both species utilized the medial surface of the palpal tarsus, the surface having the highest concentration of chemosensitive sensilla.
