This paper develops a model to study features of international economic integration in goods markets. Empirical work arising from recent episodes of goods market integration in Europe and in North America suggests some surprising observations: while quantities of trade have increased significantly, especially along the extensive margin of goods that previously were nontraded, there has been limited or even negative price convergence.
