Abstract Solanum paniculatum is popularly known as “jurubeba-verdadeira”. In folk medicine, its roots, stems, and leaves are used as tonics, anti-inflammatories, carminatives, diuretics, and for gastrointestinal disorders. This species is listed in the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia and belongs to the “Relação Nacional de Plantas Medicinais de Interesse ao SUS”. Based on folk medicine data of the Solanum genus, we decided to investigate whether the crude ethanol extract from S. paniculatum aerial…

Toxicological, Antidiarrhoeal and Antispasmodic Activities of Syzygium myrtifolium

Both the compounds and standardized extracts showed dose-dependent antidiarrhoeal activity by examining changes in the percentage of liquid stools and percentage of defecation frequency, and Dimethyl cardamonin and standardized extract showed antispasmodic activity on the isolated ileum of guinea pigs.

olanum paniculatum root extract reduces diarrhea in rats onh

Solanum paniculatum L., Solanaceae, locally known as “jurubeba”, is widely used in Brazil for culinary purposes, and in folk medicine to treat of diverse disorder including gastric dysfunctions. In

Solanum paniculatum Linn: A potential antimicrobial agent against oral microorganisms

The present review is important to provide the concrete possibility of using phytotherapeutic and medicinal plants as a therapeutic resource in Basic Healthcare Units operated by the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), particularly those represented by the Family Health Strategy.

Characterization and fragmentation mechanism of 3-aminospirostane alkaloids from roots of Solanum paniculatum L. with hepatoprotective activity.

The results allowed us to identify seven steroidal alkaloids from jurubeba (Solanum paniculatum L.) and redefine the initial mechanism of fragmentation and a significant hepatoprotective effect was also demonstrated, corroborating its traditional use.

Chemical profile, liver protective effects and analgesic properties of a Solanum paniculatum leaf extract.

UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE PERNAMBUCO CENTRO DE CIÊNCIAS BIOLÓGICAS PROGRAMA DE PÓS-GRADUAÇÃO EM BIOTECNOLOGIA INDUSTRIAL

8 Solanum paniculatum L. is popularly known as “jurubeba-verdadeira” (Eng. lit. “true jurubeba”). It is used in folk medicine mainly in the treatment of hepatic and gastrointestinal disturbances,

Reversal effect of Solanum dasyphyllum against rotenone-induced neurotoxicity

S. dasyphyllum is rich in active phytochemicals that can prevent some neurotoxic effects of rotenone exposure and can be done in an in vivo model to substantiate the results.

Nesse sentido, duas linhas

Antidiarrheal activity of Solanum asterophorum in mice

Investigation of methanol extracts from roots and leaves of Solanum asterophorum Mart.

Extratos metanólico e acetato de etila de Solanum megalonyx Sendtn. (Solanaceae) apresentam atividade espasmolítica em íleo isolado de cobaia: um estudo comparativo

It is demonstrated for the first time that aerial parts of S. megalonyx present a non-selective spasmolytic effect in guinea-pig ileum, suggesting that the extracts could be acting in a common step of the pathway signaling that leads to contraction induced by the contractile agents tested.

Spasmolytic Action of the Methanol Extract and Isojuripidine from Solanum asterophorum Mart. (Solanaceae) Leaves in Guinea-Pig Ileum

SA-MeOH and isojuripidine present spasmolytic action in guinea-pig ileum due to a partially blockade of calcium influx through Cav channels and their effect on cumulative CaCl2 curves in depolarizing medium nominally without Ca2+.

Solanum jabrense Agra & M. Nee (Solanaceae) exhibits spasmolytic activity on guinea-pig ileum

The results suggest that SJ-Hex produces spasmolytic action in guinea-pig ileum probably by inhibiting the Ca2- influx through voltage-operated Ca2+ channels.

Solanum paniculatum L. (Jurubeba): potent inhibitor of gastric acid secretion in mice.

Folk use of Solanum paniculatum L. plant to treat gastric disorders is validated and antiulcer activity of the plant extracts appears to be related directly to a potent anti-secretory activity.

Investigations on the gastroprotective and antidiarrhoeal properties of ternatin, a tetramethoxyflavone from Egletes viscosa.

Taken together, the results point out a possible antidiarrhoeal effect of ternatin since inhibition of intestinal motility and secretion can greatly control clinical diarrhoea.

Aerial parts of Solanum agrarium Sendtn. (Solanaceae) present the flavonoid myricetin 3,7,3 trimethyl ether and antispasmodic effect on guinea-pig ileum by blockade of voltage-gated calcium channels

SA‑EtOH shows antispasmodic effect on guinea-pig ileum due, in part, to blockade of calcium influx through CaV channels, suggests that Ca2+ channel subtype involved is CaV-L.

Effect of Boswellia serrata on intestinal motility in rodents: inhibition of diarrhoea without constipation

BSE prevents diarrhoea and normalizes intestinal motility in pathophysiological states without slowing the rate of transit in control animals, which could explain, at least in part, the clinical efficacy of this Ayurvedic remedy in reducing diarrhoee in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
