The acute toxicity of terbufos and its major metabolites, tested alone, in binary mixtures or in combination with atrazine were evaluated using neonates of the cladoceran Ceriodaphnia cf dubia. Terbufos, terbufos sulfoxide, and terbufos sulfone tested individually were highly toxic to C. cf dubia, with mean 96-h EC50 values of 0.08, 0.36, and 0.19 μg/l, respectively. The addition of atrazine (10 μg/l) significantly increased the toxicity of terbufos. The toxicity of terbufos sulfone was…
A low concentration of atrazine does not influence the acute toxicity of the insecticide terbufos or its breakdown products to Chironomus tepperi
TLDR
The high toxicities of terbufos and its environmentally persistent oxidation products suggest that contamination of aquatic systems with this insecticide pose a threat to aquatic organisms whether or not atrazine is also present.
Individual and combined toxic effects of herbicide atrazine and three insecticides on the earthworm, Eisenia fetida
TLDR
These findings would help regulatory authorities understand the complexity of effects from pesticide mixtures on non-target organisms and provide useful information of the interaction of various pesticide classes detected in natural environment.
Joint acute toxicity of the herbicide butachlor and three insecticides to the terrestrial earthworm, Eisenia fetida
TLDR
The observed synergistic interactions of these pesticide mixtures underline the necessity to review soil quality guidelines, which are likely underestimating the adverse combined effects of these compounds.
Acute toxicity evaluation of triazophos, deltamethrin and their combination on earthworm, Eudrilus eugeniae and its impact on AChE activity
TLDR
The altered behavioural responses in pesticides exposed earthworms would have been due to decline in AChE activity of the nervous system, as well as the sublethal effect of these pesticides.
Prophylactic administration of non‐organophosphate cholinesterase inhibitors before acute exposure to organophosphates: assessment using terbufos sulfone
TLDR
In vivo protection from terbufos sulfone‐induced mortality was achieved, and prophylactic administration of an oxime (such as K‐27) in case of imminent OPC exposure may be a viable option.

Impact of atrazine on organophosphate insecticide toxicity
TLDR
The increase in toxicity of selected organophosphorus insecticides is thought to be due to an increase in biotransformation rates of the OPs, resulting in more O‐analog within the organism.
Effects of atrazine and cyanazine on chlorpyrifos toxicity in Chironomus tentans (Diptera: Chironomidae)
TLDR
Although atrazine and cyanazine are not effective inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in vitro, the synergism of the two triazine herbicides with chlorpyrifos was associated with increased in vivo inhibition of AChE in midges.
Joint Toxicity of Triazine Herbicides and Organophosphate Insecticides to the Midge Chironomus tentans
TLDR
Toxicity tests were conducted using a factorial design and analysis of variance to statistically determine if each triazine had an effect on expected toxicity, and all of the triazine herbicides tested were capable of potentiating the toxicity of the OPs.
Increased toxicity to Ceriodaphnia dubia in mixtures of atrazine and diazinon at environmentally realistic concentrations.
Increased toxicity to invertebrates associated with a mixture of atrazine and organophosphate insecticides.
TLDR
The results of this study indicate the potential for increased toxicity in organisms exposed to environmental mixtures.
Synergistic toxicity of atrazine and organophosphate insecticides contravenes the response addition mixture model
TLDR
Results suggest that the response addition model does not always accurately predict mixture toxicity for chemicals with differing modes of action, and indicates more than additive toxicity for all compounds except mevinophos.
Impact of Atrazine on Chlorpyrifos Toxicity in Four Aquatic Vertebrates
TLDR
It does not appear that a mixture toxicity of atrazine and chlorpyrifos at environmentally relevant concentrations presents a risk to the vertebrate organisms examined in this study.
Joint acute toxicity of esfenvalerate and diazinon to larval fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas)
TLDR
The combinations of diazinon and esfenvalerate causing acute toxicity to fathead minnow larvae appeared to be greater than additive in all three tests; this effect was demonstrated with the individual pesticides and pesticide combinations (i.e., mixtures).
