The main objectives of this paper include to propose a new research field called "Ontology Engineering" and to show it can be a basic research of content-oriented research and provides such technologies that are badly needed. We begin the paper by discussing what an ontology is. We next analyze the depth of the ontology use in eight levels followed by the discussion on what concrete advantages ontology can give in the real-world problem solving.
