Taking a first step toward an integrated approach to knowledge process and system design, we draw from the literature to develop an amalgamated knowledge management life cycle model. We use this model to classify and analyze a number of extant knowledge management systems and practices. The resulting classification elucidates several informative similarities and differences between the diverse sets of systems and practices.
