Tourette's disorder (TD) is one of the five American Psychiatric Association's 2013 Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) classifications of tic disorders. Eponymously linked with the noted 19th century French physician, Gilles de la Tourette [1857-1904], this disorder is identified in 0.3% to 0.7% of the population. It is characterized as a familial neuropsychiatric condition with multiple motor tics and vocal tics (one or more) present for more than 1 year with varying…

Tics and Tourette Syndrome.
TLDR
The purpose of this article is to present current information on the phenomenology, epidemiology, comorbidities, and pathophysiology of tic disorders and discuss therapy options to provide clinicians with the necessary information to deliver thoughtful and optimal care to affected individuals.
Cannabis-based medicine in treatment of patients with Gilles de la Tourette syndrome.
TLDR
Increasing evidence suggests that CBM is efficacious in the treatment of tics and psychiatric comorbidities in patients with GTS.
European clinical guidelines for Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders—version 2.0. Part III: pharmacological treatment
TLDR
Overall, treatment of TS should be individualized, and decisions based on the patient’s needs and preferences, presence of co-existing conditions, latest scientific findings as well as on the physician's preferences, experience, and local regulatory requirements are presented.
Síndrome de Gilles de La Tourette: Relato de Caso com Diagnóstico Tardio
TLDR
A clinical case description of a 28 ‐year-old patient late diagnosed at 18 years old, with severe disease and no response to treatment as well as a prognostic and maintenance factor exploration and surgical indication in pharmacolo‐ gical resistant cases are presented.
Improvement of Tourette Syndrome Symptoms after Intractable Temporal Lobe Epileptic Surgery: A Case Report.
TLDR
It is suggested that epilepsy and TS share some common pathophysiologic mechanisms and a 24-year-old female patient diagnosed with TLE and TS showed great improvement in TS symptoms and its psychiatric comorbidities.
Gray matter abnormalities in Tourette Syndrome: a meta-analysis of voxel-based morphometry studies
TLDR
A meta-analysis of gray matter changes using seed-based d mapping confirmed significant and consistent GMV changes in several brain regions of TS patients, primarily in the cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical network.
Randomized controlled trials on the use of cannabis-based medicines in movement disorders: a systematic review
TLDR
A systematic review of randomized controlled trials on the use of cannabinoids in MD found no improvement of motor symptoms was shown in any of the two RCTs with this as primary outcome (PO), but in the nabilone group, an improvement in quality of life was documented.
Differences in pharmacological activities of ∆9 -THC and CBD on repetitive behaviours in juvenile and young adult mice may impact decision making for Tourette syndrome.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Medicinal cannabis is in increasing use by patients with Tourette syndrome, a neuropsychiatric disorder that affects about 1% of the general population and has a childhood
Different responses of repetitive behaviours in juvenile and young adult mice to Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol may affect decision making for Tourette syndrome
TLDR
The pharmacological effects of Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) have not been systematically screened or compared between juvenile and young adult rodents in a model of Tourette syndrome.
Motor-like Tics are Mediated by CB2 Cannabinoid Receptor-dependent and Independent Mechanisms Associated with Age and Sex.
TLDR
The increased HTR in juveniles induced by selective CB2 receptor agonists suggests that stimulation of theCB2 receptor may generate motor tics in children, and the 5-HT2A/2C-induced reduction in endocannabinoid catabolic enzyme expression level may explain the increased endoc cannabinoidoids' levels in patients with TS.
