In 1968, Marshall and Johnson settled a long-standing structural problem with â-vetivone, firmly establishing it as 1 by synthesis.1 Previously, â-vetivone was considered to be a bicyclic R,â-unsaturated ketone possessing a hydrazulene framework, interpretive of its dehydrogenation to give vetivazulene. The interpretive error arose from the assumption that the dehydrogenation occurred without skeletal rearrangement. It is interesting that after 28 years sesquiterpenes having a skeleton which is…

Enantioselective Total Synthesis of (+)-Steenkrotin A and Determination of Its Absolute Configuration.

The first enantioselective total synthesis of (+)-steenkrotin A has been achieved in 18 steps and 4.2 % overall yield. The key features of the strategy entail a Rh-catalyzed O-H bond insertion

Catalytic Oxidative Cleavage Reactions of Arylalkenes by tert-Butyl Hydroperoxide - A Mechanistic Assessment.

Thorough investigations of aryl-alkenes by tert-butyl hydroperoxide reactions have identified numerous reaction intermediates that are on the pathways to final product formation, and they have identified a new synthetic methodology for the synthesis of peroxy radical addition induced hydro peroxide formation.

Chemical Constituents of Marchantiophyta

Jungermannia hattoriana produces β-cyclocitral (12) (see Table 4.1). This represented the first isolation of this compound among the liverworts, when initially reported (590), although α-terpineol

Access to Enantiomerically Pure Intermediates for (−)-Geosmin Synthesis Starting from (4aS,5S)-4,4a,5,6,7,8-Hexahydro-5-hydroxy-4a-methyl-naphthalen-2(3H)-one

Enantiomerically pure key intermediates for the synthesis of the natural enantiomer of geosmin were synthesized from (4aS,5S)-4,4a,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-5-hydroxy-4a-methylnaphthalen-2(3H)-one.

Optimization of Allylic Oxidation of (1S,3R,8R)‐2,2‐Dichloro‐3,7,7,10‐tetramethyltricyclo[6,4,0,01,3]dodec‐9‐ene

Abstract The allylic oxidation of (1S,3R,8R)‐2,2‐dichloro‐3,7,7,10‐tetramethyltricyclo[6,4,0,01,3]dodec‐9‐ene into the corresponding enone with N‐bromosuccinimide (NBS), CrO3 and t‐BuOOH has been
