Toscana virus is a member of the sandfly fever group, genus Phlebovirus of the family Bunyaviridae [1]. It is a well-known cause of meningitis in humans in several regions of the Mediterranean (the Tuscany region of Italy [2], Portugal [3]. In recent years increasing numbers of Toscana virus infections have been observed in tourists returning from Italy and Portugal.
