The research is focused on the topographic modelling and mapping of the Aleutian Trench. The study area is situated in the Bering Sea, a marginal sea located northernmost of the Pacific Ocean, between Alaska and Kamchatka Peninsula. The geological setting of the region is characterized by the subduction of the oceanic Pacific Plate below the continental North American Plate. Other features include high seismic activity along the Aleutian island arcs bordering the oceanic seafloor. The objective…

Mapping topographic, geophysical and gravimetry data of Pakistan – a contribution to geological understanding of Sulaiman Fold Belt and Muslim Bagh Ophiolite Complex

Along with the development of the scripting technology in cartography, such as the Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) and libraries of R programming language, geologic and geophysical mapping is being

Cartographic scripts for seismic and geophysical mapping of Ecuador

This research describes a script-based method of Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) for mapping the seismicity, geophysics, geology and topography of Ecuador. The advances of GMT include the following

Geophysical Mapping of Ghana Using Advanced Cartographic Tool GMT

Ghana is a country exceptionally rich in geologic mineral resources with contrasting topographic relief and varied geophysical setting. This paper evaluated the geological and geophysical setting of

Mapping Earthquakes in Malawi Using Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) Catalogue for 1972–2021

Cartographic data visualization is crucial for geological mapping in seismically active areas of Malawi. Representation of the datasets from IRIS database is beneficial for hazard risk assessment,

Gravity Anomalies Seaward of Deep-Sea Trenches and their Tectonic Implications*

Summary Studies of free-air gravity anomaly profiles across island arcs show an important belt of positive anomalies seaward of deep-sea trenches. This belt of positive anomalies is called the

Exploring structured scripting cartographic technique of GMT for ocean seafloor modeling: A case of the East Indian Ocean

This paper examines spatial variations in the geomorphology of the Ninety East Ridge (NER), located in the Indian Ocean. The NER is an extraordinary long linear bathymetric feature with topography

Detailed mapping based on the high-resolution grids, such as GEBCO, ETOPO1, GlobSed, EGM- 2008 is crucial for various domains of Earth sciences: geophysics, glaciology, Quaternary, sedimentology,

PROFILES OF THE ALEUTIAN TRENCH

This paper is a sequel to Submarine mountains in the Gulf of Alaska (Murray, 1941) and concludes presentation of the U. S. Coast and Geodetic Survey9s sounding data across the Gulf of Alaska and the

Regional Crustal and Lithospheric Thickness Model for Alaska, the Chukchi Shelf, and the Inner and Outer Bering Shelves

This study presents for the first time an integrated image of the crust and lithospheric mantle of Alaska and its adjacent western shelves of the Chukchi and Bering seas based on joint modelling of

Topographic surface modelling using raster grid datasets by GMT: example of the Kuril–Kamchatka Trench, Pacific Ocean

Abstract The study area is focused on the Kuril–Kamchatka Trench, North Pacific Ocean. This region is geologically complex, notable for the lithosphere activity, tectonic plates subduction and active

Fault trends on the seaward slope of the Aleutian Trench: Implications for a laterally changing stress field tied to a westward increase in oblique convergence

[1] Normal faults along the seaward trench slope (STS) commonly strike parallel to the trench in response to bending of the oceanic plate into the subduction zone. This is not the circumstance for
