We consider a specific configuration of a distributed system for the pilot-lmplementation; a closed coupled multiprocessor system. Most of the development has been done on a Nord-100 computer, which acts as a host machine. The host machine is connected to one or more Motorola 68000 microprocessors, equipped with the VRTX operating system kernel. The MC68000s are connected by a bus-system. The CESAR-Pascal compiler and the distributed linker/loader reside in Nord-100. The other parts of the system, i.e. li) and ill) we have called the observatory, and an instance of the observatory runs in each microprocessor. The Nord100 also contains an user interface module, communicating with the user and presenting all the debugging and observation information received from the observatories.
