ooking at the 2000 Standard Bank National Arts Festival, Grahamstown was by no means bursting out of its seams, and attendance figures plummeted drastically compared to those of 1999. But then again 1999 was the 25 anniversary celebration of the Festival, which is why its programme was bigger and the length extended to 13 days. It would be better then to compare the 2000 Festival with the 1998 one, when the Festival spanned 11 days and attracted 110 000 people. This year saw 120 000 people… 
How crowdfunding discourse threatens public arts
