Thyronectria abieticola (Hypocreales), a new species from France on Abies alba

title={Thyronectria abieticola (Hypocreales), a new species from France on Abies alba},
author={Christian Lechat and Alain Gardiennet and Jacques Fournier},
A new species of Thyronectria growing on corticated branches and twigs of Abies alba is described from France. It is characterized by morphology of sexual and asexual morphs, by ITS rDNA data and by ecology. Ascomata are stromatic, blackish, not obviously changing colour in 3% KOH, covered by a greenish scurf and they have hyaline to very pale brown, one-septate, smooth ascospores 10n12.3 t 5.2n6.2 mm, not budding in the ascus to form ascoconidia. Microscopic observation of the ascomatal wall… Expand

Nectria-related fungi causing dieback and canker diseases in China, with Neothyronectriacitri sp. nov. described
The newly described species, Neothyronectriacitri, is characterised by its ascomatal wall with bright yellow scurf, unitunicate asci, each with 4-spored and ascospores allantoid to short-cylindrical, uniseriate, muriform, hyaline to slightly yellowish-brown. Expand

Two new species of Thyronectria from Mediterranean Europe
Two new species of Thyronectria growing in Mediterranean vegetation are described from southern Spain; they are T. giennensis from Quercus ilex ssp. rotundifolia and T. pistaciae from PistaciaExpand
Persistent hamathecial threads in the Nectriaceae, Hypocreales: Thyronectria revisited and re-instated
The genus Thyronectria is re-instate, which contains members whose ascomata are characterised by long, more or less persistent, apical paraphyses within the Nectriaceae, and the genus Mattirolia is revised and merged with ThyronECTria. Expand
Reassessment of Allantonectria, phylogenetic position of Thyronectroidea, and Thyronectria caraganae sp. nov
Thyronectria caraganae is described as a new species from herbarium specimens of Caragana arborescens collected in the Ukraine, characterised by morphology of the sexual morph and by DNA sequence data, which place it within the T. austroamericana - T. rhodochlora clade with high support. Expand
Generic concepts in Nectriaceae
A multi-gene phylogenetic analysis using partial sequences for the 28S large subunit (LSU) nrDNA, the internal transcribed spacer region and intervening 5.8S nrRNA gene (ITS) resolved 47 genera in the Nectriaceae, including several genera for which no sequence data was previously available. Expand
A monograph of Allantonectria, Nectria, and Pleonectria (Nectriaceae, Hypocreales, Ascomycota) and their pycnidial, sporodochial, and synnematous anamorphs
Results from the phylogenetic analyses demonstrate that species previously regarded as the genus Nectria having Gyrostroma, Tubercularia, and Zythiostroma anamorphs belong in two major paraphyletic clades. Expand
ITS primers with enhanced specificity for basidiomycetes ‐ application to the identification of mycorrhizae and rusts
ITS1‐F/ITS4‐B preferential amplification was shown to be particularly useful for detection and analysis of the basidiomycete component in ectomycorrhizae and in rust‐infected tissues. Expand
Rapid genetic identification and mapping of enzymatically amplified ribosomal DNA from several Cryptococcus species
A novel approach that uses the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for rapid simplified restriction typing and mapping of DNA from many different isolates is described, which ought to have wide applicability for clinical detection and other studies. Expand robust phylogenetic analysis for the non-specialist
The platform transparently chains programs to automatically perform phylogenetic analyses and can also meet the needs of specialists; the first ones will find up-to-date tools chained in a phylogeny pipeline to analyze their data in a simple and robust way, while the specialists will be able to easily build and run sophisticated analyses. Genetic algorithm approaches for the phylogenetic analysis of large biological sequence datasets under the maximum likelihood criterion
A fast and accurate algorithm that allows ML phylogenetic searches to be performed on datasets consisting of thousands of sequences and the P-GARLI algorithm extends the approach of GARLI to allow simultaneous use of many computer processors. Expand
Approximate likelihood-ratio test for branches: A fast, accurate, and powerful alternative.
A new, fast, approximate likelihood-ratio test (aLRT) for branches is presented here as a competitive alternative to nonparametric bootstrap and Bayesian estimation of branch support and is shown to be accurate, powerful, and robust to certain violations of model assumptions. Expand
