In this paper, we present an analytical model for the approximate calculation of the throughput and end-to-end delay performance in single hop and multihop IEEE 802.11 networks under uniform traffic distribution while accounting for the effect of aggregate interference and capture. We do this using a "major interferer approximation" approach where we approximate the aggregate interference by the interference caused by the closest interferer only.
