Three examples of classical biological control in Florida and the Caribbean basin are compared and contrasted. Use of the encyrtid parasitoids Anagyrus kamali Moursi and Gyranusoidea indica Shafee, Alam and Agarwal against the pink hibiscus mealybug, Maconellicoccus hirsutus Green, in the Caribbean exemplifies a well conceived and successful program.
