BACKGROUND A variety of operative approaches and protective adjuncts have been used to minimize organ dysfunction and, in particular, spinal cord injury (SCI) after thoracoabdominal aneurysm (TAA) repair. There is no consensus with respect to the optimal approach. METHODS Reviewed were 445 consecutive TAA repairs done between January 1987 and December 2005.
