A method is presented for the histochemical demonstration of protein-bound disulphide and sulphydryl groups, through thiosulphation. This is obtained by treatment of fixed sections with Na sulphite in presence of cupric ions and in alcaline conditions. Since the induced thiosulphate groups share the histochemical reactions of sulphate groups, they can be revealed by Alcian Blue, Toluidine Blue, and DAB-OsO4 staining methods.
