Thiopurine methyltransferase isozymes in human renal tissue.

Abstract

Thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) catalyzes the S-methylation of thiopurine drugs such as 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP). Levels of TPMT activity in human tissue are controlled by a common genetic polymorphism.
