A thin-film optical filter used as a one-dimensional spatial filter is presented, and its design is briefly examined. The filter consists of a stack of quarter-wave dielectric layers upon a right-angle prism that selectively cancel a reflected or transmitted plane-wave front for various angles of incidence. Transmittance and reflectance are low-pass functions or high-pass functions of the angle of incidence with a high degree of steepness. In combination, these filters exhibit bandpass…

Chromatic dependence of thin-film spatial filters
It has recently been proposed a new application of optical thin films as one-dimensional filters for spatial frequencies (Opt. Lett. 30, p. 914). Some possible applications include detection of

TLDR
The material presented here includes the optical equivalent of the anti-reflection quarter wave transformer, the application of Butterworth and Chebyshev tables for filter design, the optical tunneling effect, and replication of recently reported thin layer optical design results for angular spatial filtering.
Low-pass Spatial Filtering Using Optically Thinner Left-handed Photonic Crystals
Different form previous two-dimensional coated photonic crystals, in this paper we investigate an optically thinner one that is made of dielectric tubes arranged in a close-packet square lattice.
Wide-angle reflection-mode spatial filtering and splitting with photonic crystal gratings and single-layer rod gratings.

New diffractive optical elements offering a frequency tolerant, very efficient, high-pass and bandpass spatial filtering over a broad range of incidence angles are demonstrated by numerical simulations, indicating a route to geometries that can be easily fabricated with modern nanotechnologies.
Spatial filtering using dielectric photonic crystals at beam-type excitation
Spatial filtering is demonstrated at beam-type excitations by utilizing finite thickness slabs of two-dimensional dielectric photonic crystals (PCs) showing exotic Fabry–Perot resonances that are
Narrow-frequency sharp-angular filters using all-dielectric cascaded meta-gratings
Abstract Selective transmission or filtering always responds to either frequency or incident angle, so as hardly to maximize signal-to-noise ratio in communication, detection and sensing. Here, we
Photonic crystal filters for multi-band optical filtering on a monolithic substrate
Many applications require the ability to image a scene in several different narrow spectral bands simultaneously. Conventional multi-layer dielectric filters require control of film thickness to
