  • Abstract The equilibrium vacancy concentration is calculated for a homogeneous binary alloy of arbitrary composition using the model of nearest-neighbour interaction between atoms. Two approximations for the configurational partition function are briefly discussed: the Bragg-Williams and the quasichemical approximation.
