A curious feature of black holes which rotate and/or carry electric charge is that as the rotation and/or charge is increased the black hole undergoes a second-order phase transition in which its specific heat changes from negative to positive. Here this phase transition is investigated for black holes in de Sitter-like universes.
Second order phase transition and thermodynamic geometry in Kerr-AdS black holes
We discuss a scheme based on Ehrenfest-like equations to exhibit and classify transitions between two phases (with ``smaller'' and ``larger'' masses) of Kerr-AdS black holes. We show that for fixed
A study of phase transition in black hole thermodynamics
This paper deals with five-dimensional black hole solutions in (a) Einstein-Maxwell-Gauss-Bonnet theory with a cosmological constant and (b) Einstein-Yang-Mills-Gauss-Bonnet theory for spherically
Thermodynamics of the Bardeen black hole in anti-de Sitter space
In this paper, we study thermodynamics of the regular black holes with Bardeen–AdS black hole. The cut-off radius which is the minimal radius of the stable Bardeen–AdS black hole has been obtained
A New Phase Transition and Thermodynamic Geometry of Kerr-AdS Black Hole
We discover a new type of phase transition in Kerr AdS black hole where the first Ehrenfest’s equation is satisfied and the second one is violated. Thus it is neither a first order nor a simple
Thermodynamics of the Bardeen Regular Black Hole
We deal with the thermodynamic properties of the Bardeen regular black hole with reference to their respective horizons. It is argued here that the expression of the heat capacity at horizons is
Phase transition and critical phenomenon of AdS black holes in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity
Thermodynamics of phase transition for a black hole in 5D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity with a negative cosmological constant is studied. As the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy is adopted, we find the
Stability and phase transition of rotating Kaluza–Klein black holes
In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamics and phase transitions of a four-dimensional rotating Kaluza–Klein black hole solution in the presence of Maxwell electrodynamics. Calculating the
Phase transition, quasinormal modes and Hawking radiation of Schwarzschild black hole in quintessence field
Black hole thermodynamic stability can be determined by studying the nature of heat capacity of the system. For Schwarzschild black hole the heat capacity is negative, but in the quintessence field,
Thermodynamic Properties of Higher-Dimensional RN Black Holes
A general calculation formula of the heat capacity for the HRN black holes is derived. The heat capacities for Q, Φ+ and r− fixed are obtained. Assuming that the charge-mass ratio of fluctuation
Signature of the Van der Waals like small-large charged AdS black hole phase transition in quasinormal modes
A bstractWe calculate the quasinormal modes of massless scalar perturbations around small and large four-dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom-Anti de Sitter (RN-AdS) black holes. We find a dramatic change

Thermodynamics of black holes
Black holes appear to conform to a very straightforward generalisation of standard laboratory thermodynamics. This generalised theory is examined in detail, and some concrete results are presented.
Black holes and gravitational instantons
New gravitational instantons are presented which are related to charged, rotating black holes with a cosmological constant Lambda . These instantons correspond to black holes in de Sitter space with
Separability of string equilibrium equations in a generalised Kerr-de Sitter background
The equilibrium conditions for a cosmic string in a stationary asymptotically flat Kerr black hole background have been shown to be separable. It is shown that the algebraic conditions for the
Cosmological horizons and entropy
An analogue of Hawking's black hole area theorem (1975) is proved for Friedmann-type cosmological models with event horizons. The generalised second law of thermodynamics is investigated in cases
Heat capacity of a self-gravitating radiation sphere
We study the heat capacity of a spherically symmetric distribution of black body radiation when the effects of its own gravitational field are taken into account.
Particle creation by black holes
AbstractIn the classical theory black holes can only absorb and not emit particles. However it is shown that quantum mechanical effects cause black holes to create and emit particles as if they were
