Studies of the thermodynamic properties of trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) are presented in this paper. The vapor–liquid coexistence curve of CF3I was measured by visual observation of the meniscus. The critical temperature and the critical density of CF3I were determined by considering not only the level where the meniscus disappeared but also the intensity of the critical opalescence. The correlation of the saturated density in the critical region was developed, and the exponent of the power law… Expand
Is CF3I a good gaseous dielectric? A comparative swarm study of CF3I and SF6
This paper deals with the measurement of the electron drift velocity, the longitudinal diffusion coefficient and the effective ionisation coefficient in pure CF3I and CF3I mixtures. The E/N rangeExpand
Investigation of the dielectric strength of supercritical carbon dioxide–trifluoroiodomethane fluid mixtures
We investigate the dielectric strength of supercritical carbon dioxide–trifluoroiodomethane (CO2–CF3I) fluid mixtures. Supercritical fluids (SCFs), as a novel dielectric medium, combine advantageousExpand
Gaseous PVTx measurements for propane (R290) + trifluoroiodomethane (R13I1) system
Abstract An experimental study of the pressure–volume–temperature-composition ( P V T x ) properties in the gas phase for the R290 + R13I1 system was performed with an isochoric method. TheExpand
Vapor pressure and gaseous speed of sound measurements for isobutane (R600a)
Abstract The vapor pressures of isobutane (R600a) were measured from (259 to 406) K. The uncertainty of the vapor pressures was estimated to be less than 300 Pa. The measured vapor pressures wereExpand
Working fluids for high-temperature organic Rankine cycles
A thermodynamic screening of 31 pure component working fluids for organic Rankine cycles (ORC) is given using BACKONE equation of state. The fluids are alkanes, fluorinated alkanes, ethers andExpand
Solution-Phase Perfluoroalkylation of C60 Leads to Efficient and Selective Synthesis of Bis-Perfluoroalkylated Fullerenes.
Efficient and selective synthesis of C60(RF)2 derivatives was developed and eight aliphatic and aromatic RFI reagents were found to add the respective RF groups to C60 in solution. Expand
Transport properties of CF3I thermal plasmas mixed with CO2, air or N2 as an alternative to SF6 plasmas in high-voltage circuit breakers
This paper is devoted to the calculation of equilibrium compositions, thermodynamic properties (mass density, enthalpy and specific heat at constant pressure) and transport coefficients (viscosity,Expand

Screening of pure fluids as alternative refrigerants
Hydrofluorocarbons are now well established as refrigerants because of their zero ozone depletion potential. Since they have a high global warming potential, other alternatives as, e.g. fluorinatedExpand
