Spondyloarthritis can be considered one of the prototypes (besides rheumatoid arthritis) of an inflammatory rheumatic disease. The locomotor system is prominently involved with arthritis, enthesitis, dactylitis, sacroiliitis, and/or axial disease; but besides the rheumatologic component, other body systems are frequently affected.
