ABSTRACT This investigation was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and safety of glycosylated undenatured type II collagen (UC-II) alone or in combination with glucosamine HCl and chondroitin sulfate in arthritic dogs. Twenty dogs divided into four groups (n = 5) were daily treated orally for 120 days: group I, placebo; group II, 10 mg UC-II; group III, 2,000 mg glucosamine + 1,600 mg chondroitin; group IV, UC-II (10 mg) + glucosamine (2,000 mg) + chondroitin (1,600 mg), followed… Expand
Therapeutic efficacy of undenatured type-II collagen (UC-II) in comparison to glucosamine and chondroitin in arthritic horses.
TLDR
Arthritic pain in horses receiving daily placebo, undenatured type II collagen (UC-II) at 320, 480, or 640 mg (providing 80, 120, and 160 mg active UC-II, respectively), and glucosamine and chondroitin (5.4 and 1.8 g, respectively, bid for the first month, and thereafter once daily) for 150 days was evaluated. Comparative therapeutic efficacy and safety of type-II collagen (UC-II), glucosamine and chondroitin in arthritic dogs: pain evaluation by ground force plate.
The investigation was conducted on client-owned moderately arthritic dogs with two objectives: (i) to evaluate therapeutic efficacy of type-II collagen (UC-II) alone or in combination withExpand
Anti-Arthritic Efficacy And Safety Of Crominex 3+ (Trivalent Chromium, Phyllanthus emblica Extract, And Shilajit) In Moderately Arthritic Dogs
TLDR
Crominex 3+ significantly (P<0.05) ameliorated arthritic pain and improved quality of life without causing any untoward effects in moderatelyArthritic dogs. Expand
Evaluation of the Effects of Undenatured Type II Collagen (UC-II) as Compared to Robenacoxib on the Mobility Impairment Induced by Osteoarthritis in Dogs
TLDR
The results of this study showed that UC-II and robenacoxib were able to similarly improve mobility of dogs affected by OA. Expand
Safety and efficacy of undenatured type II collagen in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee: a clinical trial
TLDR
The results indicate that UC-II treatment was more efficacious resulting in a significant reduction in all assessments from the baseline at 90 days; whereas, this effect was not observed in G+C treatment group. Expand
Niacinamide and undenatured type II collagen modulates the inflammatory response in rats with monoiodoacetate-induced osteoarthritis
TLDR
The results suggest the combinations with the UCII + NA supplementation as being most effective and reduce the inflammation responses for most OA symptoms in rats. Expand
Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Arthritic Efficacy and Safety of Purified Shilajit in Moderately Arthritic Dogs
TLDR
It was concluded that Shilajit significantly (P<0.05) reduced pain in osteoarthritic dogs and markedly improved their daily life without any side effects. Expand
Therapeutic and safety evaluation of curcumin's antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties in canine and equine
TLDR
The findings of this study revealed that dogs receiving 95% curcumin (Group-I) and 95% liposomal-curcumin had a significant (P 0.05) in physical parameters or serum markers, suggesting that both 95%Curcumin and 95%. Expand
Oral administration of undenatured native chicken type II collagen (UC-II) diminished deterioration of articular cartilage in a rat model of osteoarthritis (OA).
TLDR
It is demonstrated that a clinically relevant daily dose of UC-II when applied immediately after injury can improve the mechanical function of the injured knee and prevent excessive deterioration of articular cartilage. Expand
An Overview of a Novel, Water-Soluble Undenatured Type II Collagen (NEXT-II)
TLDR
A novel, water-soluble, undenatured type II collagen (NEXT-II) for osteoarthritis demonstrated broad-spectrum safety and nonmutagenicity and exhibited significant efficacy in ameliorating pain and inflammation in collagen-induced arthritis in mice. Expand

Efficacy and safety of glycosylated undenatured type-II collagen (UC-II) in therapy of arthritic dogs.
TLDR
It is suggested that daily treatment of arthritic dogs with UC-II ameliorates signs and symptoms of arthritis, andUC-II is well tolerated as no adverse effects were noted. Expand
Glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, and the two in combination for painful knee osteoarthritis.
TLDR
Exploratory analyses suggest that the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate may be effective in the subgroup of patients with moderate-to-severe knee pain, and the efficacy and safety of these treatments as a treatment for knee pain from osteoarthritis are evaluated. Expand
Effects of orally administered undenatured type II collagen against arthritic inflammatory diseases: a mechanistic exploration.
TLDR
UC-II has demonstrated the ability to induce tolerance, effectively reducing joint pain and swelling in RA subjects, and may serve as a novel therapeutic tool in joint inflammatory conditions and symptoms of OA and RA. Expand
Oral type II collagen treatment in early rheumatoid arthritis. A double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial.
TLDR
Only a minority of patients responded to treatment with oral type II collagen, and the results justify further efforts to identify which patients will have good response to such therapy. Expand
Oral administration of the NADPH-oxidase inhibitor apocynin partially restores diminished cartilage proteoglycan synthesis and reduces inflammation in mice.
TLDR
Orocynin can partially reverse the inflammation-induced inhibition of cartilage proteoglycan synthesis, and oral administration of apocynin has COX inhibitory effects similar to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ibuprofen. Expand
Type II collagen serology: a guide to clinical responsiveness to oral tolerance?
TLDR
A double-blind placebo-controlled randomized trial of oral collagen type II (CII) treatment in rheumatoid arthritis suggests that a titre drop may be useful for identifying those patients who respond to this form of treatment and that thedrop may be a valid parameter for detecting the impact of the treatment on the immune system. Effects of oral administration of type II collagen on rheumatoid arthritis.
TLDR
Clinical efficacy of an oral tolerization approach for rheumatoid arthritis is demonstrated and a decrease in the number of swollen joints and tender joints occurred in subjects fed chicken type II collagen for 3 months but not in those that received a placebo. Expand
