We review the current status of theoretical predictions for mixing quantities and lifetimes in the $B$-sector. In particular, due to the first non-zero measurement of the decay rate difference in the neutral $B_s$-system, $\Delta \Gamma_s/ \Gamma_s = 17.6 % \pm 2.9 %$ by the LHCb collaboration and very precise data for $\tau_{B_s}$ from TeVatron and LHCb our theoretical tools can now be rigorously tested and it turns out that the Heavy Quark Expansion works in the $B$-system to an accuracy of…

$B$-mixing in and beyond the Standard model
We review the status of mixing of neutral $B$-mesons, including a discussion of the current precision of Standard Model (SM) predictions as well as the space that is left for effects of new physics.
Lifetimes and HQE
Kolya Uraltsev was one of the inventors of the Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE), that describes inclusive weak decays of hadrons containing heavy quarks and in particular lifetimes. Besides giving a
Probing New Physics with $B^0_s\to \mu^+\mu^-$: Status and Perspectives
The rare decay $B^0_s \to \mu^+\mu^-$ plays a key role for the testing of the Standard Model. It is pointed out that the sizable decay width difference $\Delta\Gamma_s$ of the $B_s$-meson system
Mixing asymmetries in B meson systems, the D0 like-sign dimuon asymmetry and generic New Physics
The measurement of a large like-sign dimuon asymmetry $A^b_{SL}$ by the D0 experiment at the Tevatron departs noticeably from Standard Model expectations and it may be interpreted as a hint of
Theory News on $B_{s(d)} \to \mu^+\mu^-$ Decays
The rare decays $B_{s(d)} \to \mu^+\mu^-$ play a key role for the testing of the Standard Model. An overview of the most recent theoretical predictions of the corresponding branching ratios is given,
Analysis of the resonant components in B̄0→J/ ψπ+π-
Interpretation of CP violation measurements using charmonium decays, in both the B0 and Bs systems, can be subject to changes due to "penguin" type diagrams. These effects can be investigated using
Contribution of the Darwin operator to non-leptonic decays of heavy quarks
We compute the Darwin operator contribution ($1/m_b^3$ correction) to the width of the inclusive non-leptonic decay of a $B$ meson ($B^+$, $B_d$ or $B_s$), stemming from the quark flavour-changing
Charming New Physics in Beautiful Processes?
In this thesis we study quark flavour physics and in particular observables relating to $B$ meson mixing and lifetimes. Meson mixing arises due to the nature of the weak interaction, and leads to

Constraints on new physics in $B-\bar{B}$ mixing in the light of recent LHCb data.
We perform model-independent statistical analyses of three scenarios accommodating New Physics (NP) in Delta F=2 flavour-changing neutral current amplitudes. In a scenario in which NP in B_d-B_d-bar
Numerical updates of lifetimes and mixing parameters of B mesons
We update the Standard-Model predictions for several quantities related to Bs−B¯s and Bd−B¯d mixing. The mass and width differences in the Bs system read ΔMSMs=(17.3±2.6)ps−1 and
Precision Physics with $B^0_s \to J/\psi \phi$ at the LHC: The Quest for New Physics
CP-violating effects in the time-dependent angular distribution of the B^0_s -> J/psi[-> ell^+ ell^-] phi[-> K^+K^-] decay products play a key role for the search of new physics. The hadronic
Anatomy of new physics in B-B mixing
We analyse three different New Physics scenarios for Delta F=2 flavour-changing neutral currents in the quark sector in the light of recent data on neutral-meson mixing. We parametrise generic New
First flavor-tagged determination of bounds on mixing-induced CP violation in Bs0 --> J/psiphi decays.
This Letter describes the first determination of bounds on the CP-violation parameter 2beta(s) using B(s)(0) decays in which the flavor of the bottom meson at production is identified. The result is
Implications of the dimuon CP asymmetry in B(d,s) decays.
TLDR
The general minimal flavor violation framework with flavor diagonal CP violating phases is found to give a good fit to all measurements, including the recent CDF Collaboration S(ψϕ) result.
Effective Lifetimes of $B_s$ Decays and their Constraints on the $B_s^0$-$\bar B_s^0$ Mixing Parameters
Measurements of the effective lifetimes of $B_s$-meson decays, which only require untagged rate analyses, allow us to probe the width difference $\Delta\Gamma_s$ and the CP-violating phase $\phi_s$
BSM MODELS FACING THE RECENT LHCb DATA: A FIRST LOOK

Mixing and Lifetimes of b‐hadrons
We review the status of mixing and lifetimes of b‐hadrons. We will show that ΔΓ/ΔM, asl and φ are better suited to search for new physics effects than ΔM alone, because of our poor knowledge of the
A simple relation for $B_s$ mixing
We reinvestigate a simple relation between the semileptonic CP asymmetry a_{sl}^s, the decay rate difference \Delta \Gamma_s, the mass difference \Delta M_s and S_{\psi \phi} extracted from the
