It’s pleasing to write an editorial on something that should resonate with everyone, whether scientist or saxophonist, technician or trapeze artist: spectroscopy. Those in the know will already appreciate the manifold applications of spectroscopy in our lives and its importance in understanding, using and constructing the ‘stuff’ around us.
