Expand
An oak coppice in Genk and its weevil fauna (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Cryptorhynchinae)
TLDR
By sieving, a soil sample was taken from one specific Oak coppice and analysed on the presence of Coleoptera relic species of the genus Acalles, considered a vegetation type providing a long-term continuity in living conditions. Expand
Sunken path in Halen. A locality of interest for the genera Acalles and Kyklioacalles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Cryptorhynchinae)
A sieving sample resulted in the combined finding of Acalles misellus Boheman, 1844, Acalles ptinoides (Marsham, 1802) and Kyklioacalles (Palaeoacalles) roboris (Curtis, 1834). The identification ofExpand
First Record of Acalles sablensis (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in Rhizophora mangle (Malpighiales: Rhizophoraceae) along the Gulf of Mexico
TLDR
The first record of Rhizophora mangle as a host of Acalles sablensis Blatchley, 1920 is presented in the Ramsar site No. 1602 of the Mangroves and Wetlands of Tuxpan. Expand
“Ghosts of the past”: flightless saproxylic weevils (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) are relict species in ancient woodlands
  • J. Buse

  • Journal of Insect Conservation

TLDR
The results show that ancient broadleaved woodlands with long-lasting habitat continuity are of high conservation value for invertebrate species such as saproxylic weevils. Expand
Svenska Acalles - revidering av arterna och deras utbredning (Coleoptera, Curculionidae).
In the genus Acalles (including Kykliocalles) seven species has been recorded from Sweden. However, the species are hard to detemine, and therefore a review of a large Swedish Acalles in Sweden. SixExpand
How and when should flightless, saproxylic, litter‐dwelling coleoptera be surveyed?
TLDR
Sieving litter and Berlese extraction in six oak woodlands showed that sampling 10 trees per forest is sufficient to capture 97.2% of the fauna present, and this fauna appears to be very stable over time. Expand
Are biodiversity patterns of saproxylic beetles shaped by habitat limitation or dispersal limitation? A case study in unfragmented montane forests
TLDR
This study demonstrates that in an unfragmented forest landscape, saproxylic beetles are able to colonize recent forests, as long as local deadwood resources are sufficiently diversified (e.g. tree species, position, diameter and/or decay stage). Expand
The influence of spatial and temporal discontinuities of forest habitats on the current presence of flightless saproxylic beetles
TLDR
An important link is demonstrated between the presence of Dienerella clathrata and the amount of forest in the past, which led to an indicator species analysis being performed and supports the hypothesis that dispersal-limited species are affected by landscape characteristics. Expand

TLDR
The species of the genus Laena Latreille from China including Tibet are treated and separated in a key and 47 new species are described, altogether 71 species are now known from that area. Expand
