Venous flaps are flaps vascularized through the venous network located within them; they can either be perfused by venous blood or by the rerouting of the arterial blood through the venous bed of the flap. Experimental research has been conducted on various animal models to study the viability, mechanism of survival, and perfusion physiology of venous flaps.
