The vacuolar-ATPase (v-ATPase) is a proton transporter found on many intracellular organelles and the plasma membrane (PM). The v-ATPase on PMs of cancer cells may contribute to their invasive properties in vitro. Its relevance to human cancer tissues remains unclear.
