Laser-induced optoacoustic spectroscopy, LIOAS, and photothermal beam deflection, PBD, were applied to the determination of the time (nanosecond to millisecond) resolved enthalpy and structural volume changes photoinduced in various biological photosensors and in the phototriggered bacterial ion pump halorhodopsin.
